Amazon Fire wasn’t the only tablet launched by the retailer this week, as besides the $49, entry-level model, they also introduced more powerful models, like the Amazon Fire HD B00VKM5NFY, a tablet with a 10″ display, designed especially for those who like to consume media but also want to enjoy the latest games, including some demanding titles.
Under the hood, it features a MediaTek quad-core CPU, with 2 cores running at 1.5 GHz, and two more, running at 1.2 GHz. The processor is aided by 1 GB of RAM, so it won’t have any issues in running all the apps you want.
It’s available in two storage options, with 16 or 32 GB, but the microSD card slot allows users to expand this with 128 more. Also, all the photos taken with the tablet and the Amazon content can be stored in the cloud, since you have unlimited space.
The Amazon Fire HD B00VKM5NFY features a micro USB connector, so you can charge it or connect it to desktops or laptops and 3.5 mm stereo jack. The connectivity department is represented by a single-antenna, dual-band Wi-Fi module, supporting public and private Wi-Fi networks or hotspots that use the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n or 802.11ac standard.
Moving on to the display, we’re looking at a 10.1″ touchscreen panel, the biggest used by Amazon on a tablet. It has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, resulting a density of 149 ppi. Also, thanks to the IPS (in-plane switching) technology, you can enjoy large viewing angles. The display is fully laminated and it has an advanced polarizing filter, so you can use it in various lighting conditions.
On the back, the Amazon Fire HD B00VKM5NFY features a 5 MP camera, great for taking high-res photos, while on the front it has a 720p snapper, perfect for those moments when you want to chat with your friends and family and want to enjoy high quality images.
The battery is powerful enough to provide up to 8 hours of reading, surfing the web, watching videos or listening to music. It’s fully charged up in about 5 hours, using the USB power adapter included in the box.
The tablet is presented as Amazon’t biggest and thinnest yet, as it measures just 0.3″ in thickness, a more than impressive number, and weighs 15.2 oz.
The operating system of choice is Fire OS 5, based on Google’s Android, which includes a couple of apps and features, so you can enjoy Amazon’s services to the fullest. You have access to the all-new Amazon Underground app store, with free apps worth over $10,000.
As for the price, the Amazon Fire HD B00VKM5NFY is available for $259.99, a very good price, considering the size and the features of this tablet.
