HP EliteBook 820 l3z40ut High-End 15.6″ Daily Laptop Specs Review

There are some people who need more than a basic laptop for daily use, as they have a lot of demanding tasks that they need to deal with. No matter if we’re talking about graphic editing, video rendering or any other similar activities, the HP EliteBook 820 l3z40ut is a very good choice. It packs a high-end spec sheet and it runs Windows 10, so you can enjoy all its latest features.

The laptop is powered by a 5th gen Intel Core i7-5600U mobile processor, with a dual-core configuration, running at 2.6 GHz. Also, thanks to the Turbo Boost technology, specific for Intel CPUs, you can increase the clock speed to 3.0 GHz, delivering some extra power.

Aided by 8 GB of RAM, the processor is able to smoothly run games or programs that demand a lot of processing power, not to mention the ability of keeping multiple browser tabs opened at once.

In terms of graphics, the HP EliteBook 820 l3z40ut is using an Intel HD Graphics 5500 on-processor graphic chip, with shared video memory. It’s not as powerful as a dedicated graphics card, but it’s good enough for everyday use.

Finally, the storage capacity counts 180 GB and it’s provided by a solid state drive. It’s not that much space, but a SSD has no moving parts and it’s able to provide faster start-up times and data access, alongside reduced heat procution.

If you need more space, you can use one of the USB 3.0 ports, to connect an external HDD or other peripherals. The laptop also comes with a built-in media reader, supporting SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards.

The connectivity suite consists in a next-gen Wi-Fi module and Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, for quick wireless and wired Web access. Also, thanks to the Bluetooth 4.0 interface, you can sync the laptop with compatible devices, like tablets or smartphones.

The HP EliteBook 820 l3z40ut has a relatively unusual display size: 12.5 inches. It’s an LED-backlit panel, with a typical 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. Considering the size, it has a bigger pixel density than a regular 15.6″ and even 13.3″ laptop, so the images will be very crisp and clear.

Above, it has a built-in webcam, great for keeping in touch with family and friends over Skype or Google Hangouts.

Moving on to the design, we’re looking at a relatively slim and light laptop, measuring 0.8″ in thickness and weighing 2.9 lbs. It has a simple but elegant matte black finish, while the keyboard is backlit illuminated, for easy typing in dim or dark locations.

The HP EliteBook 820 l3z40ut doesn’t come for cheap though. It has a price tag of $1432.28, which might seem a bit high at a first look, as you can even get a gaming laptop for this much. It comes with a pre-installed copy of Windows 10, so you don’t need to spend any extra money on an operating system.
