The Lenovo IdeaPad G50-45 is by far one of the most affordable entry-level laptops on the market. Equipped with an AMD core and a hybrid hard drive, it’s the perfect device for anybody who is looking for his or her first laptop, without spending a lot of money on it. On the same time, it’s a model which can be used in schools or offices, because despite its entry-level configuration, it can deal with basic tasks with ease.
Like mentioned above, it’s powered by an AMD Dual-Core E1 6010 processor, clocked at 1.4 GHz, aided by 2 GB of DDR3 RAM. We know, this can be a bit low, but there are a few extra slots, which can be used in order to add 6 more, making a total of 8 GB.
Of course, a cheap model won’t never come with a powerful graphics card, so the Lenovo IdeaPad G50-45 is loaded with an integrated AMD Radeon R2, able to provide high quality images and even some casual gagming sessions.
As for the storage capacity, it counts just 250 GB, but it should be enough for some basic software and a few movies, a music collection and even some games. Otherwise, cloud storage can be the perfect solution! Also, you can use a microSD card or a flash memory, as the laptop comes with two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, in order to store your files on different supports.
Moving on, the connectivity department is represetnted by a HDMI output, perfect for connecting a bigger display to the laptop, Ethernet LAN, 802.11 b/g/n wireless and finally, Bluetooth 4.0, in order to pair the Lenovo IdeaPad G50-45 with a tablet or a smartphone.
Like most models in its class, this laptop comes with a 15.6″ LED-backlit panel, with a HD ready resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, resulting a density of ~100 pixels. It also features the VibrantView technology, which, combined with the Dolby Advance Audio, creates decent conditions for enjoying a movie with a nice sound quality, delivered by the 2W speakers.
Above the display we can find the HD 720p camera, with an integrated microphone and the Lenovo Veriface Pro face recognition technology. A simple yet effective setup for keeping in touch with your friends and family.
The 4-cell battery is able to provide about 4 hours of use, in normal conditions, which imply mostly browsing the Web via Wi-Fi, while using it at maximum capacity, with the brightness set to the max, will lower the value to just two hours.
The Lenovo IdeaPad G50-45 features a black finish and it’s entirely made out of plastic, while the keyboard is surrounded by the same material, but with a metallic look, which gives it a really nice look. It weighs 2.5 kg and measures 25 mm in thickness. It’s not a compact laptop, but it’s not very hard to carry around, in a backpack or briefcase.
Finally, the laptop is available for just $483, with a pre-installed copy of Windows 8.1 64-bit. Once again, a very good deal for anybody who wants a decent laptop, in order to use it daily for basic tasks.
